Artist Statement
In my practice, I enjoy being influenced by unique philosophical perspectives that explore people or matter, and bringing my understanding of these interesting perspectives to my work. I often investigate various things and concepts with the use of mixed media. These thematic dichotomies allow me to visualise the invisible and draw the tangible from the intangible. I believe in the intrinsic value of each of the components that make up the reality of our existence, and this is reflected in my choice of objects and forms.
I have traced the contours of the human body with tape, capturing the invisible traces the body leaves in space and the externalisation of perceptual experience. Compiling them into a book is a tribute to the miracle of our physical existence - a tangible imprint of a fleeting moment in time.
Confronted with the wreckage, I began to think about death and value. This shift from the mundane to the extraordinary symbolises the profound duality of life and death, sublimating the ephemeral into the eternal.
In another series, I use moulds of everyday objects to make 'fossils', giving them a profound sense of time and meaning. This is my way of meditating on temporality and timelessness, celebrating the mundane by rendering it as a significant relic of our present moment.
To contemplate how the circle is supposed to exist, to understand the mystery of the circle, to honour its autonomy and dynamism, its mystery and complexity. To appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of the circle. I imagine the perspective and experience of the circle and try to empathise with it. I use transparent substrates to carry my collection of circles and unfold them on the wall in a form like a "musical movement ".
In my view, my art is not a static entity, but an evolving narrative, each piece a new chapter in the story of my experience with different things. As I delve deeper into my exploration, my greatest hope is that my art will touch others and expand our shared understanding of ourselves and the ever-changing world around us.
